Sand mining smugglers have attacked the police team in Bettiah. In this incident, there was a clash between the sand mining mafia and the police, in which two policemen were injured. An FIR has been registered against 18 named and 25 unknown accused in the case. The incident took place in the Dwarada river located in Dumra village of Matiyaria police station area.

Attack during patrol

Regarding the incident, the police said that on Thursday night at around 11:30 pm, during night patrol, the police team chased a tractor trailer carrying sand mined from the Dwardah river located in Dumra village. While chasing it, the police force reached Navka Tola Pipra. There, the mining smuggler, seeing the police vehicle coming, dropped the sand loaded on the tractor trailer and parked the tractor at his door. When the police team wanted to go to his house and interrogate him, dozens of close associates of the sand smuggler attacked the police team, in which two policemen were seriously injured.

Case registered against 18 people including sand smugglers and 25 unknown accused

Regarding the incident, SHO Ankit Kumar Das has told that around 11:30 pm, the police patrol team chased the tractor trailer of sand smuggler Kalam Ansari from Dwaradah river and reached his house Navka Tola Pipra to catch him. There, dozens of associates of the sand smuggler attacked the police team, in which two policemen of the police team were seriously injured. Other policemen took those injured policemen to Gaunaha Referral Hospital for treatment. SHO said that regarding the attack on the police team, an FIR has been registered against sand smuggler Kalam Ansari, his brother Salam Ansari, Afroz Ansari and 18 other people named and 25 unknown accused. He told that the cases of sand mining theft from Dwaradah river of the police station area remain in the headlines every day. Recently, 8 tractor trailers have been caught and an FIR has been registered in the sand mining theft case. In future also, the administration will continue to curb mining smuggling.
